Japanese Calligraphy and Sumi Ink Drawing workshop, co-taught with my husband Homare Ikeda, four Sundays in October, 2019 at Art Students League of Denver. The last workshop today was a cold and snowy day... Glad we made it. This workshop's theme we made was "Ichi Go Ichi E (一期一会)" which is a Zen Buddhism philosophy and also Japanese Tea Ceremony thought; "Treasure every encounter, for it will never recur." We practiced the word, and ink drawing of preferred images. Thank you for the awesome time to share your great work and passion. Be safe and stay warm..!

Always great to see enthusiastic people in workshops/classes. Photo was taken at calligraphy part (missed the one at monotype making part). We hope everyone explored the world of mark making.
Calligraphy & Brush Stroke workshop at Art Students League of Denverthis month was very fun. Co-taught with my husband Homare (Munugattai), we combined character writing and sumi-ink drawing. In this workshop, we practiced four characters of a Buddhism saying (Ko Un Ryu Sui); like 'Floating Clouds and Streaming Water,' live in a simple and flexible way, letting obsession go. Everyone was very enthusiastic and expressive. Thank for the beautiful group (^^♪

This is from the saying: "At age 15, I set my heart on learning. At age 30, I knew where I stood. At age 40, I had no doubts. At age 50, I knew my life's purpose. At age 60, my ears were attuned. At age 70, I followed my heart's desire without crossing the line." Practicing calligraphy strokes takes patience, but I hope the participants enjoyed at the workshop! Thank you😊!
